Frank Stella was born in 1936 in Malden, Massachusetts. His first important show was at the Museum of Modern Art in 1959, where he was immediately recognized for his Black Paintings. His concepts and concerns with his art were always changing and growing and became more focused on certain things, such as shapes, for a period of time. I enjoy his paintings and his more architectural sculpture, such as the last three pictures, but I'm not the biggest fan of his larger, crazily abstract, colorful wall pieces like the first three images. Something about them just doesn't grab my attention like the bottom three pieces. I love especially the bottom two because they're little buildings that are incredibly structured detailed and I love the simple, tiny figures surrounded them and I'd love to create something similar to those.
